Exactly 37 years ago, while the US was celebrating the bicentennial on July 4, 1976, Israeli commandos performed one of the most successful battles against terrorism. Raid on Entebbe is a 1977 movie directed by Irvin Kershner, featuring Charles Bronson and Peter Finch, based on the daring raid of Israeli commandos to rescue 100+ hostages being held at the Entebbe airport in Uganda. The Israeli government was unwilling to give in to terrorist demands and sent it’s finest soldiers to defeat the terrorists. One commando was killed (the operation commander, Yonatan Netanyahu, brother of future Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu), as were three of the hostages.
